I stayed for six months. Affordable rent, but narrow lanes, garbage issues, and lack of proper ventilation in most buildings were frustrating.

Living here was a mixed experience—close to work, yes, but poor hygiene, stray dogs, and frequent power cuts were a regular hassle.

Renting here saved me money, but the lack of greenery, children’s parks, and proper streetlights made it feel unsafe at night.

I bought a small unit here hoping for appreciation. Area still carries a stigma—hard to convince tenants or resale buyers, despite redevelopment talk.

As a landlord, I face tenant turnover often. Many stay short-term and leave due to perception issues and lack of modern amenities.

Old drainage systems overflow in monsoon. Walking through knee-deep water and garbage during rains was the worst part of living here.

The area has good connectivity so its close to many local stations and markets. You're not very isolated from city centre. But it has its downsides like too much littering on roads and poor infrastructure like lack of water supply and proper sanitation. many buildings are old with withering structure

Rental spaces are cheap here. I stayed here for a couple of months when I first came to mumbai for my job. You get affordable flats here so great if you're budget conscious. But not suitable for long term living. It feels like a crowded market and limited space

The area has a stereotype so most people don't want to live here permanently but as someone who has been here for almost a decade, i can say the community is diverse and welcoming. yes there are many limitations and we need structured spaces and infrastructure, but the area gives opportunities and spaces to many small businesses and shops

Kamathipura has good transport connections. I can walk to the grand road metro and several other bus stops and metro lines. but the crowd is overwhelming. the streets are narrow and feels congested

The biggest plus here is the affordable flat units and proximity to south bombay. But finding a clean and well maintained apartment is a herculean task here. Most buildings are old and need heavy repairing

Having a property here means you have to deal with civic maintainence. On the good note, connectivity is unmatched and the area social infrastructure is developing

The stigma attached to the area is slowly fading and more people are seeing it as an investment opportunity and not a red light area. Civic amenities are lacking and some inner lanes require proper street lighting. But it has good potential

What attracted me was lower rent and deposit. And I love the convenience of staying close to stations and metro but the downside is the limited open spaces. even parking is difficult on streets

I stayed in Kamathipura for a short time, and what worked for me was being close to Grant Road station as commuting was never a hassle. I’d grab a chai near Cafe Darayush whenever I stepped out. But honestly, most of the lanes felt worn out with older buildings all around, and also there's a lack of schools and good hospitals in the area.
